It was told that after firing at Salman Khan's house, the accused had gone towards Dahisar via Western Expressway. While escaping, the accused asked the local people for directions to the expressway and they were talking in Hindi. The accused were not aware of the roads of Mumbai, hence the police already suspected that the accused had come from another state.

According to sources, the police has so far verified more than 50 CCTVs. In the initial investigation, CCTV examination revealed that the accused had come from Mumbai Central.

After firing, the accused had gone to Western Express Highway via Mehboob Studio. After receiving this information, the police recorded the statements of the auto drivers and started taking further action.
On Sunday afternoon itself, Bandra Police of Mumbai had registered an FIR against the accused. The police have registered an FIR under section 307 of the IPC and sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act.
Besides, a complaint has also been written in the FIR on the basis of the statement of Salman Khan's security guard.
