Indian stock market closed with huge decline for the third consecutive session, heavy selling in IT stocks
Stock Market Today: Big selling has been seen in IT shares in the market today. Nifty's IT index closed with a fall of 889 points.
Stock market Closing On 16 April 2024: For the third consecutive trading session, the Indian stock market has closed with a big fall. Tuesday's session has proved inauspicious for the market. Due to global tensions and global signals, there was heavy profit booking by investors in the market due to which there was a decline in the market. The pressure in IT stocks has caused the market to fall. At the end of today's trading, BSE Sensex fell by 456 points and closed at 72,944 points, below 73,000. So the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange closed at 22,147 points with a fall of 125 points.

Due to the decline in the stock market, there has been a decrease in market capitalization. The market capitalization of stocks listed on BSE has declined to Rs 394.32 lakh crore, which had closed at Rs 394.48 lakh crore in the last trading session. There has been a decrease of Rs 16000 crore in market capitalization in today's session.

In today's trade, there has been a decline in the shares of IT, Banking, Metals, Real Estate, Infra sectors. Whereas there has been buying in shares of Auto, FMCG, Pharma, Media, Energy, Consumer Durables, Oil and Gas, Healthcare sectors. Midcap stocks closed down while there was buying in smallcap stocks. 3933 shares were traded on BSE in which 2249 shares closed with gains and 1569 shares closed with losses. No change was seen in the prices of 115 shares.

In today's trading, Exide Industries closed with a rise of 12.41 percent, Zee Entertainment with a rise of 4.12 percent, Eicher Motors with a rise of 3.23 percent and Laurus Labs with a rise of 3.07 percent. While Infosys closed with a fall of 3.66 percent, Mphasis 3.60 percent, Coforge 3.45 percent, Gujarat Gas closed with a fall of 3.39 percent.
