Lok Sabha Election 2024 1st Phase Voting LIVE:  Voting is taking place today for the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Voting started at 7 am. Voting will start at 8 am in many places. This will continue till 6 pm. In this phase, voting is being held on 102 seats in 21 states and union territories. There are more than 16 crore voters in the first phase. 

This time the general elections are being held in seven phases. Further under the second phase, 89 on April 26, under the third phase, 94 on May 7, under the fourth phase, on May 13, 96, under the fifth phase, on May 20, 49, under the sixth phase, on May 25, 57 and under the seventh phase, Voting will be held on 57 Lok Sabha seats on June 1. The results will be announced on June 4, 2024.

This time, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has prepared many apps for the convenience of voters, through which you can easily find your name in the voter list. Through the Voter Helpline app, one can also get the details of which voter has to go to which polling station and cast his vote and which booth is his. ECI is using many such apps. 

...So these are the arrangements for the general elections 

This time there are around 97 crore (96.8 crore) registered voters and 10.5 lakh polling stations have been set up in the country. There are 1.5 crore polling officers and security personnel for the elections, while arrangements for 55 lakh EVMs and four lakh vehicles are made. During the announcement of election dates, the Election Commission made it clear that violence has no place in democracy and violence in elections will not be tolerated at all.

When were the votes cast in the year 2019?

If we talk about the Lok Sabha elections held in the year 2019, at that time also voting was held in seven phases only. However, then on April 11, voting was held for 91 Lok Sabha seats in the first phase. 95 Lok Sabha seats in the second phase on 18th April, 117 in the third phase on 23rd April, 71 in the fourth phase on 29th April, 50 in the fifth phase on 6th May, 59 in the sixth phase on 12th May and 59 Lok Sabha seats in the seventh phase on 19th May. Voting took place. The results came on 23 May 2019.
